Crystal River is known as a home for the gentle sea cows - Manatees. So our goal was to try and see some. But we were right on the edge of their season and most had headed south for warmer waters. Crystal River surrounds Kings Bay, one of the major winter homes for Manatees.
Looking far out on Crystal River from the air there was little sign of them.
We put the boat in to Kings Bay and paddled around to see what we could. The usually clear water was a little cloudy due to the moss that had fallen in the area of the springs.
After a lot of paddling we gave up seeing one.
Our last night in Crystal River we decided on dinner at a restaurant overlooking Kings Bay.
And as if on cue, the Manatees came by to visit.
