Route 66

Writer's picture: Paul DepperschmidtPaul Depperschmidt

Three days in to our trip to Portland, OR. All is good so far. We stayed just outside Albuquerque at an RV Resort/Casino called Route 66. New and fantastic facility. If you are in to gambling they pick you up and carry you to the casino. We opted to ride our bikes around and pick up some of the old Route 66 feel. The Pit Stop serves the Laguna Burger, a Route 66 favorite, with green chili peppers in the burger. It is right across the street from the old Rio Puerco bridge built for Route 66 in 1933. Gives a flavor for what the road used to be next to what it is now, an interstate super highway.

RV, Nest Egg, Wife, Casino..... What could go wrong?

Welcome to our site.  We are Paul & Karen Depperschmidt.  In 2018 we decided that in retirement we would downsize, purge, get a Motor Coach and see North America.  In itself that is not unique.  So we complicated things a bit by including Paul's passion, aviation.  We will be pulling a custom trailer that includes our Kitfox Series 7 airplane.  Follow us as we travel the country and report on what we find.
